Some Realities about the WoW economy
January 16, 2008
Ok… really simple… WoW has a pure, unregulated supply and demand economy. It’s like the wild west. With that said, there’s a few things to consider: FIRST, the more times level 70’s go running lowbies through Deadmines and whatnot, the supply of low level Greens goes up and prices go down:“hey! my new toon just hit level 10, let’s see what i can buy for him at the AH with the 5 Gold my main just sent him! …3 minutes later-> Whoa! I just bought tons of 11-15 greens for a few silver each!”SECOND, there’s a more people running Ramparts right now than Maraudon. Whyzzat? Because 70’s are farming rep with factions in outlands. If you’re a noob, and don’t know what that means, it means that you don’t just run a dungeon… you run it every night for a week. Why the hell would you want to do that? Well, you don’t WANT to, you NEED to… so you can get your Heroic Key for these dungeons, and you can run them over and over in Heroic 70 (read: ballbreaking) mode to give yourself a break from running Kara over and over.“hey, i just picked up 10 greens last night questing and instancing in outlands last night and spent 15 gold putting them up on the AH. Let’s see how many sold… /check mail …. what? none sold? /cry.”Because people are running burning crusade instances frequently, a lot people get most of their gear form instancing. My main ran ramparts 5 times before hitting level 65and i got 3 Blues and a lot of other crap. In addition, I ran a ton of other instances as well. Also too, as soon as you hit outlands and run a couple of quests, the green rewards are so good compared to your pre-58 azeroth junk, you feel like a king and get geared up just running around the hellfire penninsula, questing. So, after the shock of going from the smooth-rolling cadillac of selling level 45 greens on the AH for sweet gobs of gold to selling Bear-plate, Falcon/Monkey-mail, and Eagle-cloth for …. um… a few gold, if at all, then you begin to augment your business stategy.“Hmmm… I’m an Enchanter! I’ll make gold from DE’ing! ok… i just bought a green level 62 belt on AH for 3 gold. /DisEnchant 62 green belt -> …ok, I just got 2 arcane dust… ok, I sold the dust for 1.6 gold each. um… i just made 20 silver. /cry”Want a faster way to make 20 silver? Go run outside of Shat, kill the first thing you see, pick up Gray, sell to vendor. LOLKK, more on the WoW economy later.AND FOR THE LOVE OF FRIGGIN JEEBUS, DON’T BUY GOLD!!!!!
