My Woman

January 20, 2008

Ok, the woman used to play WoW.   Basically, her brother was a die-hard-WoW-playing-Alliance-hating-druidhuntershammy.  He played since beta and played EverQuest back in the old days.  She was freaked out by the sheer quantity of time that he played.  A few days after replacing my old PowerMac G4  with a new Mac that actually would run WoW well, I downloaded the demo.  As it was downloading, I began to hear it…   “What??? You’re Downloading  THAT GAME???   BlahBlahBlah!!!!!!!!”  After a day of downloading, I launched WoW for the first time….     After updating for several hours, I went to bed.   The next evening, I launched WoW for the first time again…   then after another update…  I launched WoW for the first time for real, and rolled a Nelf Druid!  After falling off of Teldrassil,  dying on a branch on the way down, and not being able to get back to my body and running halfway around the island in spirit form looking for a way back up, I gave up and rolled a new toon.  So, the next thing I know… the Woman has her own Night Elf Druid!!!   Yeah.    So, she and my new Nelf Rogue (not rouge, goddammit!) are questing happily LA, LA, LA!!!   We even rolled a couple of Orcs on her brother’s realm, and were amazed by his level 60 godliness (pre-BC, of course).   So, we’re playing WoW, and she starts playing hardcore!  I’m trying out different toons, and she’s going straight for 60!!! My Woman works from home sometimes.  I’d come home, and I work ask her how her day went:  ”GREAT,” she’d reply.  ”I went up 2 levels today!”  Ok…I had a bunch of my coworkers who played… they loved her!  She and I started our own guild… our guildies loved her.  Afterher druid hit 70, she started a new Shammy.  This thing was twinked like mad with Epic BoE’s from the Auction House!     Then one day…  she stopped playing.  Why?   We got friggin’ CABLE TV.   /cry!!!   After 3 months of not playing, she deactivated her account. Now I feel like that kneeling-Nelf on the bridge in Auberdine who’s lost his love and asks you to “free” his lost love’s spirit…  Only my love’s not undead and roaming around a High Elf ruin…   She’s in the other room watching Tyra.      Heart you, Woman!
